Jessica Minton – attended Indiana University, majoring in Athletic Training. Jessica’s father died as a result of injuries sustained in an accident on October 23, 1995 in a steel mill. Jessica was granted a $1,000 scholarship in her senior year of school and successfully completed her degree.

Emily Sellers – attended Ivy Tech in Fort Wayne, majoring in Respiratory Care. Her father suffered a severe brain injury following a 20-foot fall from a scaffold and remains in the Center for Neuro Skills in Irving, Texas. Emily was awarded a $2,000 scholarship.

Monica Shannon – attended Ivy Tech in Muncie. Monica’s father is a quad. following a fall. Moncia has been awarded multiple scholarships while she attends Ivy Tech studying Computer Technology.

Tricia Stubblefield – attended Indiana University/Purdue University in Indianapolis, majoring in Business. Tricia’s father died as a result of crushing injuries suffered on May 13, 1998 in a steel mill. Tricia has been awarded two $2,000 scholarships for school years 1998-1999, and 1999-2000. 

Kimberly Earle – attends Valparaiso University in Valparaiso and is majoring in Business. Kimberly’s father was severely burned while, as an employee of  Kankakee Valley REMC, he was connecting power to a new home being built.  Kimberly was awarded a $2,000 scholarship for the school year 1999-2000, and $3,000 for the school year 2000 - 2001 Kimberly states “I am glad that there are people who care and are willing to donate their time raising money to help people like me.  It really gives me a chance . . . to accomplish my goals”.

Kendra Hahn – attended Indiana University in Bloomington. Her direction of study is in the Health Services field. Kendra’s father died as a result of severe head injuries in an explosion while he was an employee of a gas company. Kendra was awarded a $2,000 scholarship for the school year 1999-2000. 

Samuel Barker – attended Indiana State University studying Construction Management. Sam’s father fell 3 ½ stories at a construction site while an employee of a Masonry company.  He suffered catastrophic injuries.  His mother states: “On June 30, 1997, our lives were changed forever”  Sam was awarded a $3,000 scholarship for the school year 1999-2000. After receiving the money he writes:  “You have helped me tremendously. I can not tell you in so many words how I feel.  I am just very happy to see that I can afford my education, but without your help I would have had to struggle for the money. Now, I can worry less about money and more about school. I have a caring Mother and Father by my side that helps me out a lot, but they can’t always help financially due to my father’s accident. That is where Kids Chance steps in and helps me fulfill my dreams and goals. I am overwhelmed”.

Jean-Ann Reynolds – applied for assistance as a senior at Purdue University studying Commercial Computer Graphics. Jean-Ann’s father is now a quadriplegic as a result of an injury in late 1999.  Prior to the accident, Jean-Ann was on the Deans List of Purdue University. She was awarded $3,000 to provide housing so that she could complete her senior year.  She writes:  “I worked 2 jobs last year and realized mid-semester that it was too much working 30 hours a week, taking a full load and trying to travel to Indianapolis or Carmel to spend as much time as I could with my father.  He didn’t want my grades to suffer so he told me not to come & see him; I didn’t want to because I know after all this that the time I have left with him is very precious. With the money you so generously gave me, I can concentrate on school. It means a lot to me because this is my last year. Hopefully, I can bring my grades up and graduate on the Dean’s List again.“ 

Stacie Kopciak – attending Butler University studying music education.  Her father, a music teacher, was killed in an automobile accident while in route to a music conference. Stacie was awarded scholarships for the past four school years.
